Your Gate Way to the middle east

About

At Shanasheel Middle Eastern Market, our story begins with family, memory, and the deep-rooted desire to reconnect with home.

As immigrants from Iraq, my brothers and I have always carried the weight of leaving not just our country—but the culture, smells, flavors, and sounds that made it feel like home. Over time, we realized that fitting into a new society didn’t have to mean letting go of who we are. That realization became the heart of our first business venture together: a place where Middle Eastern culture is not just remembered, but celebrated and shared.

Opening in June 2025 in Murrieta, California, Shanasheel is more than just a grocery store. It is a bridge between worlds—a familiar place for those who miss the tastes of their childhood, and a warm introduction for those curious to explore the rich traditions of the Middle East.

Why “Shanasheel”?

The name Shanasheel comes from a traditional Middle Eastern window style known for its ornate woodwork and intricate beauty. For many of us, it’s a symbol of home—of quiet afternoons, distant calls to prayer, and stories told over tea. We chose this name to spark nostalgia and honor the cultural roots we’re so proud of.

Our Mission

We’re proud to be a family-owned and Muslim-owned business. Fairness in trade, quality in service, and respect for our customers guide everything we do. But above all, our mission is simple:
To create a space where Middle Eastern culture is kept alive and shared with love.

In time, we hope to build more businesses like this—each one strengthening the community and connecting people to the culture they carry in their hearts.

Looking Ahead

While we’re just getting started, we’re planning big things. Our first step is offering delivery services, and we also have plans for community events in the near future.

We can’t wait to welcome you into our market and into the community we’re building—one filled with flavor, memory, and a whole lot of heart.
